ROZHEN – THREE CENTURIES HISTORY
At the 1961 Festival, the “Rojen miracle” rises – the orchestra “Sto kaba gaidi” led by Apostol Kisyov.
The bagpipes are from the whole Smolyan region. Apostol Kisyov travels from village to village, tunes the drones and chanters, studies with the self-thought and native folk talents a bunch of Rhodope melodies. The only common rehearsal is on the eve of the Festival.
Eyewitnesses say that the performance of the orchestra is striking and it becomes a phenomenon in the Bulgarian musical culture.
