Prominent Bulgarian folklorists will evaluate the performances in this year’s Folk Festival “Roger-2015.” The jury will be comprised of prof. Milcho Vassilev – Rector of the Academy of Music, Dance and Art in Plovdiv, Prof. Dr. Daniela Geneva – Director of Ensemble “Trakia”, Assoc. Prof. Svetla Stanilova – lecturer in the Academy of Plovdiv, Stoyanka Tenova – Director of the National School for Folklore in Shiroka Laka, Tanya Mareva – Director of the Museum “Stoyu Shishkov” in Smolyan and Georgi Andreev – conductor of the National Folklore Ensemble “Philip Koutev” in Sofia. Special prizes for the competition will be gold plaques for group and individual performers, as well as Ist, IInd and III-rd prizes. This years on 3 separated scenes the enchanting Bulgarian voices of three generations will present the mystery of native folklore.So far over 3,000 singers, musicians, dancers, smooth-tongued speakers; 190 groups and 140 ensembles and individual performers from the Rhodope Mountains, Pirin, Dobrudzha region, Thracian region, Shop region, etc. have submitted their application for participation in the festival.They will mummers games’(kukeri), carol, wedding and many other typically Bulgarian customs from all ethnographic regions of the country.
